Nepal is a mountainous landlocked country which lies in Asia Continent. The land of Nepal covers 0.03% land of the world and 0.3% land of Asia continent. The country is between two large countries China and India. In northern part of the country there is China and in remaining all three sides it is bounded by another large country India.
There is great diversity in geography, culture, language, tradition etc. in the country. The country is rich in culture and arts which give the nation unique identification among the other countries.
Hindu, Buddhist, Islam, Christian etc. are the major religions of the country. There are more than hundred castes. The main castes of the people in the country are, Gurung, Magar, Rai, Limbu, Bharmin, Chhetri, Newar, Tamang, Sherpa, Tharu etc. Different group of people in the communities have separate cultural identities. So they have their own ways of life in different parts of the country. The attitude of the people from mountain may differ from the people of Hilly region and Terai (plain) region. Also they have inequality in different aspects like culture, language tone, dress, food habit and so on.
Mountain region is the cold region of the country so the life of the people has affected by the climate. They wear warm clothes and eat and drink hot foods. The people have polygamy marriage system there. Due to geographical difficulty there is low population density.
In Hilly region where there is moderate climate and people use medium clothes and food. There is high population density in this region. Most of the important cities of the country like Kathmandu, Pokhara etc lie in this region. So the society is quiet different than mountain region.
The plain region of the country is fertile and there is high production in agriculture. It is hot region so the people wear light clothes. Due to plain geographical structure in terai, the life is easy here than in mountain and hills. Large level and small level industries are also available in this region. In this way the Nepali society is different in different part of the country. Due to vary in different parts of the country we can say that there is diversity in Nepal.
